How do toymakers make dinosaurs so cute looking?

Dinosaurs were really ugly looking nasty beings, yet toy dinosaurs and stuffed ones are so danged cute. Even Barney’s kind of cute. How do they do it? Do they line up kids in a toy test facility and see which dinosaur designs kids are attracted to? Or their parents are attracted to?
